Dear L&L's Friends, Family and Forever Fans,

It is with overfilled, loving hearts we bid farewell to our Midtown Bookshelf friends on June 4th as they will be heading back north on that beautiful, countryscaped 319 to focus all of their literary love in their Thomasville, Ga location. We have loved every second we spent with our "business crush" here in Midtown and know that they will endure many more story filled years in their Thomasville location. Plus, we are still lucky to sell cupcakes and share their spaces and see their faces up there Thursday- Saturday every week! We wish them continued success and will miss them dearly here in Midtown as we know all of you will to. 
We will be expanding our space with more places to sit and enjoy cupcaking with your friends and family as well as having new gifts and such to tantalize you. We will be throwing a Cupcake & Champagne Brunch, Sunday June 9th 11am-2pm to unveil our new digs and hope you will all come join us for Sunday Funday Lucy & Leo's style. Stay tuned for the details!

The rumors are true. Lucy & Leo's Cupcakery and The Bookshelf will soon be co-habitating in both Thomasville and Tallahassee. Though it's not a traditional marriage, both parties are committed and will begin sharing space in the beginning of June.

The Bookshelf Midtown will open primarily as a kids book and educational toy store, with a smattering of independent best sellers and periodicals.

Valentines day is just around the corner, and nothing says LOVE like cupcakes!!

We are tying to get organized and prepared for what is going to be a VERY hectic day around the Cupcakery. We would like to encourage you to think ahead and order your Valentine cupcakes early so that you get what you want. We will have a specialty Valentines menu to choose from all day on February 14th.

Here's the deal:

• Chocolate w/ White Chocolate Raspberry
• Chocolate Espresso
• Red Velvet
• Strawberry Shortcup
• The Classics (vanilla/chocolate with vanilla/chocolate frosting)
• Cookies n' Cream

**To sweeten the deal, add a chocolate covered strawberry to any cupcake for $1.00

On another note, Lets talk about Spring flavors....

We have heard all of your requests, and are working on perfecting the new flavors. They will not be released until after Valentines day, but until then we are going to have some "throwback" flavors like Hummingbird, Key Lime, and Snickerdoodle. Check our Facebook for what special flavors we have that day.

For the past several months, the owners of Textures and Lucy and Leo’s,  (Maggie and Jean) have been working super hard on their time away from the shop to train for a 165 mile bike ride from Miami to Key West.

Why are they doing this, you ask?

Here’s a little background…

Jean had ACL surgery last March. While rehabilitating, she discovered that riding the stationary bike felt best on her knee and seemed to be helping most. During this time, a friend (we will call her Kim) was recruiting friends to join her in a charity ride to raising money for the AIDS foundation. Jean decided that this would be a good goal,  she bought a road bike and signed up.

Maggie did not have knee surgery. She started riding her commuter bike with Jean when (in the beginning) she needed a friend to go along on rides with her, just in case something happened with her knee. After riding on several long rides, she discovered that cycling did not make her Asthma flare up, when every other physical activity inhibited her breathing. She became very excited and started feeling like her lungs were becoming stronger and stronger every ride, making it so she does not need to use her inhaler at all. This is a HUGE feat. At this point she decided that a 165 mile ride from Miami to Key west could be an amazing goal as well, and help her stay healthy.

So here’s the details- November 18-19, Maggie and Jean will be conquering this amazing goal!! They will ride 100 miles the first day and 65 miles the second day. Since this is a charity ride, they each have to raise $1250 for the AIDS foundation. Each one of them have raised $700-ish which means they need to raise about $500- ish more.

In order to finish up their fund raising for this awesome cause, Maggie, Jean (and friends will) be riding a stationary bike inside Textures/L&L’s on Tuesday, November 8 starting at 10:00am – until ???. They will be riding the bike and taking donations until we raise $1000. To sweeten the deal, L&L’s will give you a cupcake for every $10 donation. If you donate $100 or more you get a gift certificate  for a dozen cupcakes and a personalized Maggie Owl, that is a value of over $60!!!

This is an exciting adventure that these two have signed up for. Come by the shop to hear about how training is coming along.

We are so excited that Autumn is finally here! In honor of this glorious season, we have kicked our menu up a notch to include some of your favorite fall flavors from the past and some new flavors to boot.

 In order for these delicious fall flavors to be added to our menu, we had to substitute some of our normal daily flavors... but don't worry, Hummingbird, Lemon Blue sky, and Snickerdoodle will be back before you know it!
