About Us

Where did the idea to start a cupcake shop come from?

While visiting London in the summer of 2008, we stumbled upon the Hummingbird Cafe, a quaint bakery in Notting Hill that only served cupcakes. We were charmed by the decor and the delicious treats. Knowing that Tallahassee is a well-traveled, intellectual community, hungry for creative ideas, we thought it would be the perfect market to open our very own cupcakery.

Who are Lucy and Leo?

Leo is our dog and Lucy is our next door neighbor's dog. Lucy is a black basset hound/lab mix and Leo is a pointer/bulldog mix. Both Lucy and Leo were adopted from the Leon County Humane Society.

Whose artwork is displayed in the shop?

Julie Guyot is our featured artist and she just happens to be Lucy's mom too!

Julie grew up among the cornfields in rural Illinois. She graduated with her BFA in ceramics from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 1994 and her MFA in studio art from Florida State University in 2008.

She currently resides here in Tallahassee with her husband, Clayton and, of course, Lucy.

What is ::Textures Handmade Market:: ?

We share our space with Texures, a local gift market full of unique and original handcrafted gifts and accesories made by mostly local and reginal artists. They are in the business of providing an affordable alternative to the standard mass-produced items in malls and other large retail stores.
